The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS) – Corporates Department (CORP) – Adriatic Sea, Slovenia and Croatia Division (4-MA&SL HR), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You are expected to assist the division in the implementation of its operational tasks especially in the origination process and the financial analysis are concerned, as better depicted under the section Responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Division or senior loan officers, you will support the division lending activity such as:

  • Update the existing origination databases and/or help in building new ones used to monitor and approach potential new counterparts;
  • Draft client briefings, reports, presentations and contribute to external communication efforts;
  • Contribute to the update of the counterparts' financial data and in the preparation of financial analysis;
  • Provide support to the division in implementing other day-to-day tasks, including for instance simple compliance checks.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Finance, Banking, Marketing, Business administration, Economics or related fields. Other disciplines can also be considered
  • Good level of drafting skills (with some creativity sparks), analytical (including knowledge of financial analysis) and synthesis skills are required
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, Microsoft 365
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Italian and other EU language would be an advantage.
