The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Process Optimisation Unit of the Finance and Strategy Office, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Trainee.

Specific Post Environment:
EIF is currently undergoing a digital transformation being delivered together with the European Investment Bank in the form of an EIB Group Digital Transformation Programme (DTP). The Project & Digitalization Coordination (PDC) Division, in which the Trainee will work, is the central hub within EIF for the implementation of this programme, with the purpose to:
- coordinate the EIB Group DTP for the EIF and to support the implementation of modern applications and solutions throughout the EIF;
- identify opportunities for technological advancements and to foster the emergence of new ideas on how to optimise operations and make them as lean and automatised as possible;
- and support different teams in conducting comprehensive assessments of their processes, offering expertise on refinement strategies for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
The Process Optimisation Unit, within the Project & Digitalization Coordination (PDC) Division, supports teams across EIF in identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for process improvement, while also fostering a culture of innovation.
Overall objective:
Your overall objective will be:
- to work on the improvement of the EIF project management methodology, artefacts and tools.
- To contribute to the design, development and implementation of an Innovation Management System for EIF
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the senior of the team, you shall:
- Support the PDC division in the further development and maintenance of project management methodology, artefacts and tools;
- Support the analysis and optimisation of business processes. Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, as well as areas for streamlining;
- Support the creation and management of an Innovation Management System, which will track and follow up innovation and digitalization initiatives from inception to closure.
Expected outcome:
- Updated inventory of projects and digitalisation initiatives;
- Updated project management methodology, artefacts and tools;
- Implementation of the Innovation Management System to track and update innovation and digitalization initiatives.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or related subjects;
- A first relevant professional experience in consultancy or banking would be an advantage;
- Knowledge and understanding of EIF’s mission and activities.

Good knowledge of principles, methods and practices in the areas of project management and process management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of other Microsoft application tools (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good command of another EU language would be an advantage.
Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Good drafting and synthesis skills;
- Fluency in English; knowledge of further EU languages will be considered an asset;
- Good interpersonal skills, open-minded and resilient;
- Demonstrate proactivity, capability to work autonomously under given objectives and organise their own work effectively even under time pressure;
- Attention to detail.
