Team overview:

Our tax experts advise on all direct and indirect tax aspects which international and domestic businesses face today.

We work with clients across industries including energy and infrastructure, banking and finance, private equity, investment funds and real estate.

We provide a wide range of advice for our clients, from informal day-to-day assistance to, the establishment of investment structures (through investment funds and other vehicles), to complex financial and corporate transactions.

Job overview:

We are looking for a legal intern for a minimum of 3 months up to 6 months within our tax practice area. You will assist the tax team on all domestic and international tax related matters arising in the context of corporate structure, investment fund and finance transactions in all asset classes (e.g. real estate assets, debt investment, private equity, etc)..

Your specific areas of responsibility will initially be to assist the team to provide a tailor-made tax advice to the transaction..

You would also be expected to manage projects that have been assigned to you, and liaise closely with colleagues, clients, counterparties and other advisers.

You will be working as part of committed and inspired friendly teams. Our lawyers are experts in their respective areas and passionate about the work they do.

During your internship, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting legal research in tax related matters;
  • Drafting tax advice e.g. email, tax memorandum, tax opinions or tax structure paper;
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents from a tax perspective;
  • Supporting lawyers on a daily basis on a variety of tasks and clients cases;
  • Contributing to knowledge management and sharing.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Experience and qualifications

  • You are currently enrolled into a Master's degree in law or about to graduate. A specialization in Tax would be considered a significant asset;
  • Preliminary experience gained through internships within a law firm is a strong advantage;

Skills

  • Fluency in English and French is a must, German would be an asset
  • An adaptable person who is eager to learn;
  • A team-player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels;
  • Excellent legal analysis and organisation skills as well as solution driven;
  • Able to demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit and energy necessary to help win and execute complicated and high profile corporate transactions;
  • Excellent communication skills, in particular confident to express yourself in writing.
