The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS) - Public Sector Department (PS) - Public Sector - Poland and Baltic States Division (5-PL&Baltics) - Public Sector - Public Sector Lending Unit (PSL) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

Objective of the traineeship

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit, you will work in collaboration with loan officers, who are accountable for carrying out EIB lending operations in Poland and the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) and you will support them by contributing to reduction of undisbursed stock of loans denominated in PLN, creating a monitoring tool related to tracking of profitability of division's disbursements, participating in the appraisal process of one operation and by providing support, on an ad hoc basis, to loan officers on tasks related to new operations and existing clients.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main tasks will be:

  • Financial analysis;
  • Background research on sectors supported by the Division lending team,
  • Background research and screening of projects in specific sectors/countries to facilitate origination activities.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Economics, Business or Finance.
  • A first experience/internship in the banking sector will be considered as an asset.
  • Strong numerical and interpersonal skills. - Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word and Excel.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Polish/Lithuanian/Latvian/Estonian will be considered as an advantage.
