With focus on the service to the Group’s European based clients, Bank Julius Baer Europe (BJBE) has established a Business Risk Management (BRM) team with the primary focus to ensure proactive, coordinated and effective
management of risk related topics throughout the client lifecycle.
Join the BRM team of Bank Julius BJBE to gain first-hand experience in the monitoring and addressing of day to day risks prevailing in the Front departments. During your journey, you will gain experience and insight into the measures taken to address these risks. You will partner with Management, with Compliance and with Legal for solution finding, and have interactions with Relationship Managers and Assistant Relationship Managers. You will be actively involved in monitoring activities, gaining real life experience and acquiring relevant knowledge and personal skills.
YOUR CHALLENGE
What to work on:
Support BRM in Client Book Monitoring
Assist the Business Risk Management (BRM) team in conducting regular reviews of the Bank Julius Baer Europe (BJBE) client portfolio
Focus on identifying and tracking predefined deficiencies
Analyse patterns, recurring issues, and emerging trends across client files to support proactive risk mitigation
Proactive Support to Front Office Teams
Collaborate closely with Front Office teams to address identified deficiencies efficiently
Provide practical guidance on remediation steps and foster understanding of regulatory or internal requirements
Help implement best practices to prevent reoccurrence of errors and reduce operational and reputational risks
Contribute to reporting on the quality and compliance status of the client base
Serve as a point of contact to advise on daily operational challenges related to client onboarding and file maintenance
Training Needs Assessment & Material Development
Evaluate current knowledge gaps within Front Office and BRM teams alongside the client lifecycle and in relation to regulatory or internal expectations
Support the design and updating of targeted training materials (e.g., presentations, quick guides, FAQs)
Contribute to organising and delivering sessions to enhance awareness and adherence to internal standards and policies
What to learn:
Addressee-Oriented Communication
Adapt tone, style, and content of communication depending on audience (e.g., advisors vs. control function colleagues)
Practice delivering clear, concise, and constructive feedback, particularly when addressing sensitive topics like file deficiencies
Develop skills in writing effective emails, reports, and instructions tailored to different stakeholders
Acting as Moderator Between 2nd Line and Business
Build understanding of the differing priorities between control functions (risk, compliance) and revenue-generating units
Strengthen abilities to mediate discussions, manage expectations, and facilitate solutions acceptable to both sides
Foster collaboration by translating regulatory or policy requirements into practical business implications
Insight Into Private Banking Lifecycle and Challenges
Gain exposure to end-to-end client journey stages: onboarding, relationship management, periodic reviews, and offboarding
Understand key drivers and pain points in cross-border private banking, including regulatory constraints and service delivery standards
Become familiar with core challenges such as balancing client service excellence with robust risk and compliance
YOUR PROFILE
Bachelor student from 2nd year onwards or enrolled Master student in the field(s) of Economics, Finance, Law or related
Initial practical experience in banking and skills/knowledge in European regulation is a plus
Strong client and business orientation and ability to think interconnected
Good communication skills
Passion for wealth management and a desire to create value beyond wealth
A global mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong appetite for learning
Fluency in English, with additional languages being a plus
Registered in the country of application with a valid work permit
