Join Julius Baer Europe S.A. and become part of our Risk Management team, where you’ll play an active role in managing non-financial risks with a focus on operational risk within a dynamic, international environment. As an intern, you will also support our cross-location activities covering the Bank’s branches in Ireland, Spain, Italy, and Portugal—offering you unique exposure to diverse markets and working cultures across Europe.
Working within the global wealth management environment provides valuable insights into ongoing regulatory challenges and the operational aspects of risk management. During your internship, you will gain practical experience while enhancing your communication abilities through defined responsibilities in a cooperative, cross-border setting.
YOUR CHALLENGE
During your internship, you will contribute to the Non-Financial Risk Management function at Julius Baer Europe S.A. (BJBE) and its four branch locations.
What to work on:
Support operational risk management activities, including monitoring, recording, reporting, and follow-up of operational risk incidents
Assist in identifying process weaknesses and propose mitigation measures or improvement recommendations
Contribute to process reviews and risk assessments across BJBE and its branches
Support Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) and Exception-to-Policy (EtP) review processes
Provide ad-hoc assistance in various risk-related projects and reviews
Assist in keeping the operational risk management governance framework up to date
What to learn:
Gain insight into non-financial risk management within a global wealth management environment
Understand cross-border risk supervision across European branches (Ireland, Spain, Italy, Portugal)
Learn about regulatory expectations and governance frameworks in a multi-jurisdictional setting
Develop practical skills in risk monitoring, incident reporting, and follow-up processes
Enhance analytical and problem-solving abilities through process reviews and risk assessments
Strengthen communication and collaboration skills by working in a multicultural, international team environment
YOUR PROFILE
Bachelor student from 2nd year onwards or enrolled Master student in the field(s) of Economics, Business Administration or a related field
Initial practical experience in an (international) banking environment and skills/knowledge in (non-financial) risk management is a plus
Strong analytical thinking, structured working style, and the ability to translate complex topics into clear and concise insights
Interest in non-financial risk topics such as operational risk, information security, third-party risks, regulatory requirements in an international environment
Passion for wealth management and a desire to create value beyond wealth
A global mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong appetite for learning
Strong appetite for learning with the ability to challenge assumptions, ask precise questions and operate in a dynamic environment
Fluency in English, with additional languages being a plus
Registered in the country of application with a valid work permit
